The mugo pine is a small, deep green tree that grows in tight circles. It has stiff needles and 2 inch brown cones with seed pods found at the end of its long slender branches. Mugo Pines are native to Spain east as far as Bulgaria but can also befound throughout North Africa on mountainsides above 1200 meters where they live under moderate light shade or full sun conditions depending upon soil type preference while needing well drained loamy rich dirt.
