Pinkie Pie's Perilous Platforms is a 2D platformer inspired by the hit television series, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.
This project was started as a second version of what I called Project Atarashii in early 2012 as a year-long school project for the Wise Individualised Senior Experience (WISE) program.
Story
Starring Pinkie Pie (one of the main six characters of the show), she sets out to plan a huge party for the one-year anniversary of Twilight Sparkle and Spike's arrival to Ponyville, when trouble strikes in the form of Discord - the spirit of chaos and disharmony.
Announcing that he has captured the royal sisters (Princess Celestia and Princess Luna), Discord also decides to lay waste to the Mane Six... except Pinkie. His plan is to toy with her as much as possible, so he warps various Equestrian towns and locations into freaky platform-laden areas where Pinkie has to retrieve her lost funds for the party, and save her friends from capture.
The Project Thus Far
The project has seen its fair share of developmental issues, including feature creep, scope creep, and many other similar problems. In a way, it's really my hands-on lesson for what to do and what not to do when developing video games.
Perilous Platforms has currently been through three iterations, but as of 2014, the project will revert to its original form as a short, yet enjoyable platformer. It's created in Stencyl using variations of pre-made behaviors, as well as other self-coded behaviors for mechanics such as a lives system.
In its initial stages in development, it has been noticed by fandom sites such as Equestria Daily, Derpy Hooves News, and Equestria Gaming, plus the game's first demo was shown off at Summer BronyCon 2012 in Secaucus, New Jersey, which hosted over 4,000 devout fans of the show, and showcased a wide variety of fan-made content, including art, music, and of course, video games.
Currently, the project is aimed for a 2014 release.
