​​​​​​​CHALLENGE: the owners of Brouwerij PALM in Steenhuffel wanted to refresh the brand identity and packaging design for their market leading PALM Original Ale, one of the most iconic brands in Belgium. The brief was to update the design (without changing it) and shine a light on its heritage. At the same time the key stakeholders of the family owned business wanted to create the packaging design for a special edition ROYAL Anniversary Ale to celebrate 100 years since their ancestors founded the brewery.
RESULT: a subtle twist on the design of PALM Original Ale inspired by the heritage of the past. Most of the design assets remained the same but the square label was rotated 90 deg to create a new diamond shaped label similar to the one found on the first bottles produced when the brewery first started business. The PALM ROYAL Anniversary Ale label design was created in a very simple and stylish way, using all of the traditional design cues and premium printing processes. The oval label design used a classic combination of gold foil, embossing, debossing, craft paper and lithographic printing.
