This one of my favorite digital painting exercises where I try to improve my understanding of light and shadows by painting values. I took up key frames of different movies as reference where they use contrasting, dramatic lighting and I focused on mainly painting the bigger shapes and painting them in terms of light and dark, and not focusing on color.

I mainly painted these key frames while squinting my eyes to get a better understanding of values.
