The Grantham Centre for Sustainable Futures works with academic, business and policy experts to create a more enduring future for the planet.
We were asked to collaborate on a project with Professor Tony Ryan and Writer Steve McKevitt that would highlight some of the issues facing the world and the solutions put forward by The Grantham Centre. Work looking at global warming and environmental change tends to fall into relatively safe infographic territory so we proposed a more radical approach.
A two part-cinematic narrative was devised that utilized both hand-drawn 2D and 3D animation in a stark anime inspired look and feel. Accompanied by a dark and driving soundtrack and a voiceover by Professor Ryan, the motion graphics film was awarded with the official pick of Motionographer founder Carlos El Asmar at the prestigious Motion Awards.
With beautiful sweeping landscapes, cinematic compositions and vivid colours, each scene was painstakingly crafted to work as an image in its own right.
