Michigan Pen Company is a family-owned business located in the Great Lakes State. They hand-turn premium, custom writing instruments for the professional. Michigan Pen Company offers a variety of exotic woods and finishes to create a high-end writing experience. Invoking feelings of wanting to ditch the computer all together and write letters again.

The goal of this project was to create a logo and brand identity that shows off the elegance that matches the exclusive and refined craftsmanship of the pens themselves. 

Michigan Pen Company branding is classic, striking, and simple.

With use of the monoline, we were able to make it look as though the Michigan Pen was writing out the logo itself. The encompassing circle allows the logo to be seen as more of a stamp or actual branding iron than simply the monoline would allow.

Along with the logo, we created brandmarks and wordmarks that allow the brand to be immediately appreciated by its user. The classic pen tip with the cutout of the lower peninsula of Michigan is a simple nod to the beginnings of both the company itself and the actual product. Users who are loyal to the brand will notice the small touches of the pen tip pattern around the branding and be able to call out the refined and elegant color palette from other instruments on the market.
