Lincoln County Coalition Against Domestic Violence

Our school accepted a client who wanted to create a brand that could apply to three identities: Amy's House, Amy's Closet and the Lincoln County Coalition Against Domestic Violence. They asked our class to undertake this challenge by designing three different logos for each of them. Each of us designed our own logos independent of one another and then formally presented them before the clients on the final day.

As their name suggests, Lincoln County Coalition Against Domestic Violence is a group determined to reach out to victims of domestic violence, specifically women and children. Their three identities: the coalition itself, Amy's House and Amy's Closet, work interchangeably in achieving this goal. Amy's House is the the shelter that opens its doors for victims looking for refuge, while Amy's Closet is a volunteer-run boutique that supplies donated women's cloths to displaced victims with no charge. Both were affectionately named after the woman who had a hand in bringing the coalition into existence.

My first logo design was focused on the buildings themselves: the roof design playing off of the "House" in the shelter's name, and the door to signify the closet and the coalition's open doors to victims in need. I wanted them to feel homey and secure to anyone who viewed them from the outside, while still communicating their meaning through simple imagery.
The second design made use of the purple ribbon that symbolizes domestic abuse. It unified the three logos, associating them through a distinctive theme. The white ribbon however is a callback to famous movements held by men to stop domestic violence, distinguishing it a bit from Amy's House and Closet.
