ARTIC Design Competition - WIN!

ARTIC Proposal Win
The Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center (ARTIC) is California's first high speed rail facility. To be constructed across the Santa Ana River from Angel's stadium in Anaheim, this structure is slated for 2013 completion. The design competition was fierce, our competitors were some of the world's most renowned architecture firms, including Richard Meier and Associates. Upon selection, HOK's team was told that our entire presentation was "head and shoulders" above the other entries, from the architectural design to the graphic presentation. The presentation included a 100-page book within a custom box, 15 presentation boards and matching PowerPoint show.
Flattened cover art. Proposal was perfect-bound.
The ARTIC book conformed to mandated font sizes - many Requests for Proposals now have them. The HOK standard font would not work, so I contacted the font designer and solicited his advice. I purchased the sister font to our in-house typeface, Stag Sans. It worked well at a larger size and retained the light "California" feel I was working towards.
Conveying the architecture team's process was vital to winning this job. I worked extensively with the Project Manager to create unified, clear charts that would explain the process, in order of completion, to the audience. Charts were shape- and color-coded to help tie together interlocking processes that appeared on non-consecutive pages.
