Corridos Perrones

Corridos Perrones

Corridos were born in Mexico in the early 19th century to recount the exploits of the leaders of the independence movement. Over time, they have evolved and now there are corridos that talk about drug lords (narcocorridos), but there are also those that talk about working for a better life and succeeding.

Because of all this, Spotify launched Corridos Perrones, a playlist from the United States and Mexico, which is already being listened to all over the planet. With its 1.8 million, it is already one of the strongest playlists on the platform's Latin music offering.

Our challenge was to give this musical style with so much tradition a modern image, while respecting the contrast and diversity of styles that the genre is currently experiencing, ranging from ranchero looks with horses and SUVs, to a style closer to trap, with its motorcycles and urban luxuries.

In the corrido world, everything is shinier, bigger and more expensive. That's why we use as the main element of the graphic the ornaments with symbols and details of the Mexican culture, which are usually seen in the buckles of their belts and in the silver and gold engravings of their guns.

We also wanted to represent the younger and newer members of the genre. For this reason, the lock up and the monogram, engraved in gold, contrast with the colored fire in the background, with which we represent the passion and lyricism of the corridos, giving the design the exact doses of epic drama and modernity needed.

We started from tradition and ended up creating a very modern and experimental image. We dared to say it all, just as it is done in the best corridos. And given the result, it was well worth it.
