Digital medical records have led to a greater push for medical practices to digitize all aspects of the patient experience. At NueMD, I led the efforts to replace paper check-in forms with a digital check-in experience.
The kiosk was designed to integrate with NueMD's existing Practice Portal. The Practice Portal was a client-facing application where a practice could control the patients' ability to message their physician, schedule appointments, view lab results, etc. For the check-in kiosk, Pactices would set a tablet or computer to "Check-In Mode" which prevented patients from accidentally accessing confidential information.
When checking in, patients would be able to confirm their identifying information, insurance details, and fill out the necessary forms. All this information would then be imported into NueMD's practice management software and alert the practice that the patient was ready to be seen.
