BIG Man in a small Car
This is a little, pink, European car.
Not my work, simply the base image.

Down here, is a big, depressed, super hero.
Also not my work (surely that is obvious), but another base image.
This project was for a school assignment, intended to help me learn and practice my conceptual and technical skills inside Adobe Illustrator. The rubric of this project required me to simply remake the car of the first image. Sure, our goal was to fulfill the rubric, but also to add Mr. Incredible.
First, we outlined the car.

Next, wheels and windows.
In order to place Mr. Incredible in the car, we needed to add a second layer of body and windows.
But the car looks blank. It needs the lights, the license plate, the creases, and those other noticeable details from the actual car.
Now it looks like a proper bug. Time to add in the "BIG Man". Here is his clothing, which is behind his body.
This is where we encountered the main problem. The angle that the car is facing is very different than the angle Mr. Incredible is facing. So, rather than redo the car, we designed the super hero at his normal angle, then used Illustrator's transform tools to turn him slightly. This was done after creating his face and arms, as well as the steering wheel. This second layer to Mr. Incredible goes on top of his clothes, but under the front of the car.
There absolutely must be a background. Not because the rubric says so, but-- look at it, it is still basic. It needs an extra touch... Aha! We got it... the Incredibles symbol will do perfectly.
Oh, but that looks a bit basic, too.
A few gradients... Yes! Now, to throw it in there.
Yikes, he and his car do not look good against that background. We wanted them to pop out from it, and not look like they are right on top of it. So, we added the final, final touch: a radial gradient.
