Water: Essence & Potential

Design Brief
Design a campaign for an art exhibit on Sacramento State's campus that features multiple artists. Incorporate at least one piece from each of the artists (4), and present all with equal importance. Organize the content with the campus demographic in mind, using clear hierarchy and interesting imagery to inspire attendance.

My Concept
Because the event’s theme was water, the design mimicked some of its characteristics. Inspired by flow, the images were arranged and rounded to mimic a falling stream. That stream guides the eye to the title stopping for a moment then proceeds to the content.

Choosing the right typeface for the title was very important because it needed to communicate the theme as well as demand attention from the audience. New Caledonia’s high contrast in stroke weight, as well as its rounded “ears” within the ‘w’ and ‘r’, provided the best solution.
