CNC Checkerboard
This checkerboard is made from black walnut and epoxy resin. It folds in half and has storage inside for chess/checker pieces, and was made using a CNC router. 
Build Process
Materials:
- 8"x8"x2" Black Walnut bowl blank
- Two part epoxy resin
- Black metallic resin pigment (powder)
- 12mm barrel hinges (x2)
- Danish oil

Tools Used:
- CNC router
- Table saw
- Band saw
- Surface planar
- Hand sander
- Drill press
Steps:
1. Created a 3D model of the checkerboard in Fusion 360
2. Cut bowl blank into two 8"x8"x1" pieces with a band saw
3. Created a manufacturing tool path for the design in Fusion 360
4. Uploaded toolpath to a CNC router machine
5. Using the CNC router, cut out the pockets for the checker pattern and pockets for              storage
6. Mix two part epoxy resin and add pigment, then pour into checker pockets
7. Use surface planar to get ride of excess resin
8. Cut board in half with a table saw
9. Sand using a hand sanding machine, increasing grit over time
10. Drill holes for barrel hinges with a drill press, and install
11. Finish with Danish oil
