Project 4: Shutter Speed

The images below were taken for my shutter speed project. Our goal was to show motion with slower shutter speeds and to stop motion with a faster shutter speed.
Image 1: This image was taken to stop motion. I used a fast shutter speed to capture this image. While I was looking for areas or things to photograph for this assignment I noticed that one of our horses was getting a drink and afterwards the water was dripping off of his chin. I quickly started taking photos and this one turned out the best. I think the shallow depth of field works really well with this photo to bring more focus on the main subject. I chose this photo out of the rest because I really liked how the photo shows the drop right as it disconnects from the rest of the water on his chin.
Image 2: This photo is my example of showing motion. I made sure to have a slow shutter speed on my camera to show motion in the water falling from the metal pipe. To fit the rule of thirds, I placed the subject on the left side of the photograph. The tree that crosses the entire image is also on the bottom third of the image. I like that the water looks much smoother compared to how it looked when I stopped the motion with a faster shutter speed.
