Forest is a productivity app that I use almost daily. It was created by Seekrtech and it available both in Play Store and App Store. In this case study, I put a new spin on the app's UI and gave it a more antique look.
In my work, I like to draw inspiration from the original sources. In order to achieve a more authentic antique look, I have traced historical engravings I had found of Wikimedia Commons. For this example, I used a coffee tree, a nod to the app's goal and purpose - being a productivity aid. The rest of the engravings came from different sources: newspapers, posters, ads, heraldry, and book illustratitons (except for the Share symbol, which is too ingrained into the modern interface to be replaced).
