BRIEF
The goal is to make a conscious redesign of a slicer, identifying the user desires and needs and creating an innovative product that coud meet the identified criteria.

RESEARCH
I started this project trying to understand people desires and needs with interviews, surveys and observations. Here you can see a little excerpt from the survey to understand how many people have a slicer and how and how often they use it.
Slicers have several problems: Generally they are too big and they have a complicated shape. They remain visible in the kitchen because there is not enough space in the cupboards or in the drawers to contain them.
RESULT
From these considerations start the new design for this product.
I completely changed the slicer point of view: I turned the vertical components of a classical slicer to make them horizontal. Thanks to this arrangement it was possible to drastically reduce the size and I simplify the final form.

To activate it, you have to unlock the blade and lift the product from the handle. The circular blade is activated by pressing the power button.
It's possible to adjust the thickness of the slices to be cut, using a side lever that can lift or lower the top. The food is passed on sharp edges, so you get the thickness you want.
