Packaging design «Recipes of Finnish chefs» for the supermarket chain «PRISMA» St. Petersburg 2021
«PRISMA» is Finland's largest hypermarket chain, part of one of the oldest Finnish holdings S-Group. In Russia, the range of the brand is made up of imported (mainly Finnish) goods and locally produced goods.
In 2021, «PRISMA» decided to make a line of ready-to-eat meals based on the recipes of leading chefs from Finland. In St. Petersburg, Finnish lohikeitto soup, rye pies and smoked salmon are well known. And what happens if a chef from Finland shares his own German salad recipe? It is these recipes – international, but at the same time very Finnish – that have become the basis for new dishes of our own production. Our task was to pack the dishes beautifully, minimalistically, in a Finnish way, according to the recipes of Finnish chefs.
A number of packaging design options have been proposed. Below are some of them. But they did not fit the customer.
In order for the packaging of Finnish recipes to look harmonious on the shelves in a prism, it was decided to combine the packaging design of the main line of finished products and add a Finnish identity. Finnish products in «PRISMA» are mostly with minimalistic packaging and dominance of blue/light blue colors. Therefore, we took the “Finnish colors” as a basis, so that the buyer would have a direct association. Plus, we add additional elements to our corporate graphics that are different from the main line.
