Willem-Alexandertunnel
De Willem-Alexandertunnel werd gebouwd tussen 2011 en 2016. Voor de bouw waren 12.000 kabels en leidingen, 300.000 m3beton en 120 miljoen kg asfalt nodig. Om de tunnel te bouwen is 1,4 miljoen m3grond, grind en mergel uitgegraven. Dit is te vergelijken met een rij zandwagens van Maastricht tot aan de Côte d’Azur.
Verder zijn er in de directe omgeving (over een lengte van 6 km) 21 andere bouwwerken, zoals fly-overs, viaducten, fietstunnels en ecoducten, gebouwd. Ook deze bouwwerken verbeteren de bereikbaarheid van Maastricht, de doorstroming op de A2 en de verkeersveiligheid en leefbaarheid in de directe omgeving.

Willem-Alexandertunnel
The Willem-Alexandertunnel was built between 2011 and 2016. Construction required 12,000 cables and pipes, 300,000 m3 of concrete and 120 million kg of asphalt. 1.4 million m3 of soil, gravel and marl was excavated to build the tunnel. This can be compared to a row of sand trucks from Maastricht to the Côte d'Azur.
In addition, 21 other structures, such as flyovers, viaducts, bicycle tunnels and ecoducts, have been built in the immediate vicinity (over a length of 6 km). These structures also improve the accessibility of Maastricht, the traffic flow on the A2 and road safety and quality of life in the immediate vicinity.
