This project is Night Owls, a single-purchase subscription box designed for those who stay up late, minds filled with creative thoughts. For the main box design, I decided to use the logo on the top and create a pattern on the sides, using the owl character with the moon.
I knew that I wanted to have an owl character for this project when I first started designing it. I decided to go with a logo that introduced (or contained) the character. I then utilized the moon in place of the 'O' in owls.
For the shipping box, I wanted to keep including the owl sketches on each of the products, so I chose to place them on the tape. I also included a label with the logo of the company as well as its slogan, "for the late night visionaries."
For the colors, I stuck with purple and yellow, as they appear dream-like and whimsical.
Here are close ups of the sketches of the owl character, who I named Cosmos. These continually appear on all products and box designs (as seen below).
I chose each sketch for a specific product, filling them in to match the colors of the logo. Here on the colored pencil box, I used the owl that is drawing. The colored pencils were included so that the consumer would have something to write / draw with in their new sketchbook.
I wanted to use a typeface that went along with the dream-like and creative theme, so I chose Satisfy Regular. It ended up being used on the logo, colored pencil box, and journal / sketchbook.
A sketchbook / journal is added to the box so that the consumer may have a place to pour out all of their ideas. The t-shirt is for their comfort throughout the day or when sleeping.
