Venue Code in Hangzhou public places helps promote COVID-19 prevention and control.

Hangzhou districts have a continuous increase in the number of COVID-19 cases this year, and the government introduced various new measures to stabilize the epidemic prevention and control. A venue Code is a QR code generated by the system for key venues that automatically registers people's access and health information. Now, nearly 96,000 public places in Hangzhou have been recorded into the system, and many confirmed COVID-19 patients' past travel information has been accurately checked. Venue codes are implemented not only in Hangzhou but also in many other parts of China, reducing the pandemic risk.

Citizens in Hangzhou need to provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test in the proceeding 72 hours to enter public places.

Regular COVID-19 testing is a new epidemic prevention and control measure aimed at detecting patients on time. It has been extended from 48 hours to 72 hours since 27 May as the epidemic situation in Hangzhou has gradually been brought under control. The decrease in the frequency of regular COVID-19 tests did not reduce the number of testing sites, and the venue code continued to use at the testing sites.

Shaoxing Expressway intersections implement 24-hour epidemic control, drivers and passengers need to show the green Health QR Code and 48-Hours negative COVID-19 test results. 

The Shaoxing Health QR code has three colors: green, yellow, and red. Passengers and drivers with yellow and red Health QR codes will be denied access and asked to return or put in a 14-day quarantine. The double health certificate for the passage of the expressway reduces the inflow of epidemics from other cities and provinces, but at the same time causes the blockage of the exit roads.

In 2022, the epidemic situation in Hangzhou and even the whole of China is still increasing, and the national floating tourist population is decreasing. Hangzhou Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, TV, and Tourism reported that the tourist flow of West Lake during the May Day holiday decreased by 84.65% compared to 2021. To enter the scenic spot, visitors need to wear masks, show a Health QR Code, and take their temperatures. Multiple prevention and control measures have reduced the number of tourists from other cities and provinces.


Hikvision, Hangzhou – 30 May 2022

Meituan launched takeaway counters in Hangzhou to achieve contactless delivery between delivery guys and consumers.

During the initial launch of the Meituan takeaway counters, the purpose is to reduce food loss and improve health and safety. However, with the emergence of the epidemic, takeout counters are covered in business districts with the large demand for takeout in Hangzhou and public places with high requirements for epidemic prevention and control, such as hospitals, universities, and companies, reducing personnel contact in crowded places. Meituan also regularly disinfects counters to ensure the safety of the takeaway and prevent ‘epidemic from entering through the mouth’.

Hikvision, Hangzhou – 30 May 2022

Hangzhou Hikvision Headquarters implements a new measure for employees to apply for green passes every day and health check-in after entering the park.

In response to the requirement for regular COVID-19 tests in Hangzhou, Hikvision has implemented the office application mode for entering the park since May. Employees need to update the venue code scan results and COVID-19 test reports (within 72 hours) to obtain a pass for the corresponding days. The cases that are prohibited from passing are the Health QR Code is red and yellow, there are symptoms such as fever or cough, and those who come to Hangzhou from other cities (who have not done a COVID-19 test). This new pandemic management measure inconveniences for company employees' access but reduces the risk of potential infection within the park.

Zhejiang Gongshang University, Hangzhou – 29 May 2022

Zhejiang Gongshang University limited personnel to enter and set up exclusive entrance and exit channels for teachers and students.

During the epidemic period, Zhejiang Gongshang University strictly prohibits the entry of express delivery personnel and delivery guys, and external visitors are required to register and show their visitor codes. Students and teachers need to hold an Hangzhou green Health QR code and a 72-hour COVID-19 negative test certificate before they enter the school. The university has independently developed the "My Business University" application software, which provides convenient services for students to check in and apply for admission to the school.

Shaoxing subway employees take personal measures to protect themselves from COVID-19, keeping masks and gloves at all times.

During the epidemic period, not only the public places of the subway are disinfected four times a day, but also the employees were always doing personal epidemic prevention. ‘Wearing gloves is like wearing a mask because many of the equipment in the subway, such as doors of subway cars and elevator handrails, are touched by passengers and we can't avoid touching them while checking. In addition, the daily passenger flow of the subway is very high. Although passengers need a health certificate to enter, we still need to be vigilant to ensure our health and safety " subway attendant Yikun Song said.
