"The primary mission of the Kioiwa helicopter is in the scout attack role."
In 2015 the United States Army decided to retire the OH-58D Kiowa Warrior from service.
For nearly 30 years the OH-58D served as the primary forward Scouting & Reconnaissance Aircraft for the Maneuver Commander from Division Level and below.
Since the OH-58D's removal from service, the U.S. Army has had no integrated tactical Reconnaissance, Surveillance and Target Acquisition (RSTA) Aircraft available to maneuver commanders.
Concept of Operations (CONOPS)
The Kiowa II picks up where the OH-58D Kiowa Warrior left off.
The Aircraft combines the capabilities of the RC-12 and OH-58D into a single multi-mission platform.
Kiowa II is a purpose built Scout / Reconnaissance and Intelligence asset that is part of BCT's TOE.
It will integrate with the Brigade TUAS Platoon and provide never before seen capability at the BCT and BN Levels.
It's ability to fly ultra quiet and at at low levels up to and beyond the FEBA, will provide the BCT Commander with immediate, flexible precision tactical Intelligence, reconnaissance and scouting capability
The vehicle is fully"Pilot Optional"offering legitimate  All Weather flight capability free from many of contestants of AR 95-1
 like Crew Rest.
The KIOWA II “e-Scout” is a CMOSS and SOSA compliant, AI-driven Electric Vertical Takeoff & Landing (e-VTOL) aircraft.

Integrated airborne system is designed to be forward deployed & capable of identifying, cataloging & engaging electronic emitters, ranging from Cellular IEDs to Long Wave SAM Surveillance Radar.

Designed to be operated manned or unmanned at very low altitudes.
Its silence, agility & speed make it survivable & lethal in the electromagnetic battlespace of today and tomorrow.
The Kiowa II is fully Pilot Optional, however there are often missions that require
“Eyes on Target” & human verification.
As such, the Kiowa II in manned mode employs second generation
Simplified Vehicle Operations Technology (SVO) & AI
which allows the pilot / operator to focus 85% of their time on mission accomplishment
& not flying the aircraft.
