Aba té Home – Journey to Robben Island
I had the privilege of accompanying artist /Xam Fortuin as a Photographer on his journey to Robben Island, a significant location for him. My task was to document Fortuin’s enigmatic encounter with the island, which was inspired by a childhood memory involving fire, whiskey, and soil.
Fortuin followed the thread of this memory to the island through his artistic practice and research and found himself in his father's former communal prison cell. I used my skills and expertise to capture the emotional and powerful moments of this encounter and document the journey in a meaningful and impactful way.
As a designer, I had an exciting opportunity to create an accompanying publication for an exhibition that showcased the work produced during our trip to Robben Island. I worked closely with Fortuin to develop a concept and layout that would effectively showcase the work and tell the story of our journey to the island. I utilized various design software and techniques to bring my ideas to life, paying careful attention to every detail to ensure that the final product was of the highest quality.
