Lake FX Studio - Fine Art

Lake FX Studio
Fine Art Segment of Lake FX Studio Gallery
My purpose in forming Lake FX Studio, LLC was multi-faceted. First it had to provide a legitimate registered company with the State of Michigan that allowed me to engage in independent contracting. Secondly, I derived the name to be analogous with a highly recognizable trait of my home state, Michigan. The lake effect, which impacts all the surrounding regions of the Great Lakes, is directly related to one special aspect of my art quest--the protection of the Great Lakes and of pure water globally. Finally, LFX Studio (my shortened name), provides ample opportunity to conduct several other creative endeavors that involve such offerings as Pet Portraits, Michigan promotions, and other personal paths in fine art, design or illustration. In this gallery are some of my recent works related to my Fine Art Department. Yeah, I know, all these "departments" are located in the same little studio. Awesome, eh?
"Marquette Swamp Bird"

This is an 11"x14" acrylic I started some time ago and is finally complete despite many challenges to my schedule. It depicts a submerged area my son identified as Mead Bog located in Marquette County in Michigan. A lone bird perched on a branch defies the solitary setting and becomes a central focus.

"Manchester County Hardwood Stand"

I worked on this longer than I had intended. My decision to stop was preceded by several additions of foliage definition via a fan brush and my caffeine-syncopated grip! It measures 12"X16" and is done in acrylic. My youngest son, who is a biologist, attended college in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan where he hiked often and provided me with ample photo reference of this great state and its breath-taking natural beauty.
"Detroit River Rogue"

Perhaps among early inhabitants of the straits of Detroit were ancestors of "Detroit River Rogue", one vociferous frequent visitor to most shoreline haunts. This seagull proudly but stands his ground against the sea breeze seeking to steal away his cautious hold on supremacy on the river front, here shown along the Detroit River. This is a 9" X 12" acrylic painting. My work will continue to focus on subjects related in some way to water, the seas, and particularly the Great Lakes of Michigan.
"Jesus Resurrected"

This was a meaningful commission for me, not only because of the inspired journey I had in this rendition of the resurrected Christ from the Shroud of Turin, but also because it was assigned to me by a good friend.  The painting also underscored my return to oils as a medium. The painting measured 16" X 20" and resulted in a life-sized portrait of stunning impact when standing near to it.  I hope that my fortune in having such worthwhile projects will continue with the same successful results.
