Brooklyn Bridge Park

"True love is eternal, infinite, and always like itself. It is equal and pure, without violent demonstrations: it is seen with white hairs and is always young in the heart"
– Honore de Balzac

My last time to Brooklyn Bridge Park, I encountered this beautiful elderly couple sitting on this bench in silence. It had just rained and the view of Manhattan was impaired by all the fog hovering over the water, but they sat there with such content. They simply enjoyed each others company, they enjoyed the comfortable silence, and the comfort of having the other next to them. They loved each other deeply. Soon enough, the man kissed the woman on her cheek and they stood up, hand in hand, and continued to walk along the water. Out of everyone in the park that day, this couple seemed the happiest to me. They had lived a life together, the good and the bad, and still desired to hold each other close, enjoying a comfortable silence. This infinite love is the exact reason I love Brooklyn Bridge Park so much. It is the first place I took my pup Benjamin when I moved here, and it’s hard to keep me away. There is love everywhere in this park. Right under the bridge where the River Cafe resides, you will find several locks with written names and notes on them, evident displays of affection for one another, their keys all somewhere in the water under the bridge. It is a place where people go to express their love for one another, and it grows by the day. There are tags also all around the park with the words LOVE and LOVE IS PATIENT, little reminders that love is the single most important thing in life. Everywhere you look you see someone with a smile, wether they are all alone sitting by the water, or with their loved ones enjoying a day at the park. Regardless of the mood I am when I enter the park, I always end up feeling at peace when I leave. No matter what is putting you down that day, LOVE IS LOUDER, and this always seems to prove true when I go to Brooklyn Bridge Park. Photos are up in The City Gallery of my foggy day at this beautiful park.
