Where can graphic designers go to find ideas for their artwork?
They could go to a store or look on Behance or Pinterest.
Describe three different sources of inspiration a designer could use when creating a new package design.
A graphic designer could use other peoples work to inspire them, something they have seen at a store or place, or look online for inspiration.
Name two advantages and one disadvantage for each source of inspiration.
One advantage for using other peoples work is that you can use both your ideas and theirs to create something really great. Another advantage is that you can “feed off” of others ideas to create something better of your own. A disadvantage is that if the artist is really famous, there are probably a lot of other people using their work for inspiration, so your package could be unoriginal.
One advantage for using something they have seen at a store or place for inspiration is that it will probably help an artist to help them come up with an idea of how you want to design your product. Another advantage is that you can look at other packages for the product you are designing to create something unique. A disadvantage would be that you might end up copying something too closely.
One advantage for looking online is that there are so many websites and search engines to look for different ideas. Another advantage would be that they can finalize their ideas by looking at others creations. One disadvantage for looking online for inspiration would be copyright issues. Just because you aren’t directly copying someone else’s work doesn’t mean that you can’t get in trouble for it.
