This was the process to design a single density handlebar grip for Silverback's entry to mid level mountain bikes. Below you can see the final digital concepts.

The concepts were then printed onto paper and then rolled around existing grips to fine tune the contact points with the riders hand.

A 3d model was then created in Solidworks.

A plastic prototype was created from the 3d model. This prototype was 3d printed.

The 3d prototype was cast in silicone to create a mould.

The mould was used to cast rubber prototype grips with a similar shore hardness to the final product. These were then tested before submitting the final design for tooling.
