When I start a painting I like to make a big mosaic of all the colours I've chosen for my colour palette and have that as the base so that there's a little bit of every colour in the whole piece. I find it that it makes it easier bringing the piece together from the start and to have some interesting colour variations within one section.

If I were to go back and redo it, I would probably play around with the pose and facial expression more, make it a tad less dark and just render it a little bit more.
