atri — a bright light pad

atri — a bright light pad for drawing and copying images
Atri saves time and effort when working on an illustration, logo, diagram or composition. Having several working sketches, it's easy to combine everything you need on a blank piece of paper on a table.

Atri eliminates the need to trace the same calligraphy grid, sketch guides for finishing work, or transfer drawing from sheet to sheet with awkward methods like dividing the work into squares.
Atri has an A3 size light field and wide margins of 5 cm - your hand always has space when working with large formats.

Despite the large format, the tablet does not take up much space and it is easy to store. Atri can be taken with you to master classes, study or work.
The lightpad is only 12 mm thick, so it is easy to work with it on your knees, sitting at the table or lying on the coach. The thickness is practically not felt, and the rounded edges ensure comfortable work.

Atri’s body is solid, with a matte, pleasant to the touch finish. There are magnets inside the body, which can be used to fix the sheets in a convinient position.
The brightness is enough to illuminate 4 sheets of paper
(400 g per m2), during copying, all details from 0.05 mm are visible.

The light elements are calculated in such a way, that the whole surface of the tablet glows evenly, without any dark areas or highlights inherent for ordinary lamp tables.

The color spectrum of the light is cold white. No yellow light.

In real life:

And, how we made it
We decided to make a super-thin light tablet. Сollecting the first prototypes
Making the first matrices with side illumination:
Experiment with the pattern of the matrix, look how others modeling backlight
We have physics friend, who research photonics and modeling light distribution fields and with him we do calculations and modeling of the backlight for Atri
Understand that light pad should be brighter and more smooth, then we are trying different materials, patterns of the scattering matrix, matrix thicknesses, LEDs
At the same time, we make design, first prototypes of housing, choose components and suppliers
Test, measure brightness on different matrices, make tuning
Launch crowdfunding, start production, get a bunch of defects, make corrections, edit the design, make packaging
Everything is ok and we start batch of Atri into production, make coating, apply a logo:
Renderings, photo shoots, retouching:
And final:
