Bibilcal character book project

I chose to illustrate a heavily stylized portrait of 3 different biblical figures for my book cover project. I chose to utilize black and white because at my core I’m also a photographer and I have a deep-rooted love for black n white photography. I love creating illustrations in black n white, I think it’s stronger in black n white and more contemporary. The charters of my book design are John the Baptist, Mathew, and Peter. I want to have strong details and strong symbols. My goal would be the illustration would cause people to want to open and buy the book. I want the eyes of my illustrations to draw people in and investigate the drawing. The symbols I used for John the Baptist was locus.  Matthew 3:4 John’s food was locusts and wild honey. The next symbol I used is for Mathew a Romon coin of the time period before Jesus called Mathew, he was a tax collector. I know it seems simple, but I want to engage people who might not know the Bible and maybe by looking at the illustrations they will open up the Bible or the book of Mathew. The last symbol I used is the stone background and fish embedded in the stone. Peter is the cornerstone on which Jesus church is built on and he was a fishermen before Jesus called him.  I am realizing that everything we should be doing should be for the Lord, to further His kingdom. Today I was reminded of this in church when the sermon was about Romans 2:6- He will render to each one according to his works. I have a strong conviction and desire to make biblical charters. I looked at photographs from the series The Chosen to depict the illustration of Mathew, John the Baptist, and Peter.  I hope with the art I create, with the Holy Spirit working threw me, will draw people closer to God.
