Looking towards the future in another issue of the world's leading environmental research magazine.

In 2022, Resources for the Future (RFF) turned 70. To mark this impressive milestone, RFF published three special editions of their magazine over the course of the year. The articles in this issue, the third and final of the year, give a sense of what the future looks like, as the organization focuses on two priorities: designing smart emissions-reduction strategies and confronting risks while building resilience.

The issue featured a number of articles proposing what the years ahead might look like from a wide ranging set of perspectives. These included insights into topics such as how we might reach a net-zero economy, calculating a new social cost of carbon, and how we can decarbonize industries like transportation and industry. The issue also included features about climate change risk and the financial system, and international climate policy.

As with each issue, I created the layouts as well as contributing a number of infographics and illustrations. The issue also featured a number of commissions – Jacopo Rosati created a really engaging isometric illustration about reaching a net-zero resilient economy, and Nathalie Lees contributed a couple of wonderful conceptual pieces about decarbonizing the transportation sector. Finally, Myriam Wares created a beautifully detailed cover illustration, which forms part of a triptych across all the issues in 2022.
