The Typeface Booklet is creating a booklet based on the history, theory, and practice of letterforms as they apply to visual communication. We were asked to include spreads that talk about the typeface history, type specimen, type anatomy, and type usage spreads. I chose the typeface Trade Gothic designed by Jackson Burke, which is a popular San Serif typeface. It was important for me to study the typeface’s characteristics. Looking at Trade Gothic’s characteristics it is very boxed and has straight edges. My goal was to capture that using squares throughout the booklet and showcase its typeface as much as I can. I choose to top it off using a bold red contrasting against the white and black.
