Man of Steel Rebrand

Background: This project was an assignment for the Arts 246 Class, Graphic Design II, at the University of South Carolina. The assignment was to rebrand and create a letterhead, logo, and business card for a superhero. I chose Superman, the Man of Steel.

In the rebrand, I took a more formal business, coroprate approach to the rebranding of Superman, because that's what he was when he wasn't saving the world or traveling at the speed of light, also it was a way for him to conceal his identity, while getting his name out there. I used the traditional red, blue, and yellow Superman colors, but gave them a business like tone. I created an identity for Man of Steel Incorporated, to give some backbone to the business. Then, using the iconic "S" everyone immediately recognizes, I simplified it down to the simplest forms I could, keeping the shield shape. Simple and refined, yet immediately recognizable.
I designed the inside of the envelope to allude to Superman's desguise and many depictions of him opening his shirt or suit jacket to reveal the Superman symbol on his chest.
