West Virginia Lottery "Bluegrass" Production

The West Virginia Lottery "Bluegrass" commercial was a joy to shoot and a lot of hard work to pull together in just three short days. I was responsible for set design, location procurement at Stonewall Jackson State Park in Lewis County, talent accommodation and props. According to West Virginia Lottery Director John Musgrave, “< the commercial is > really about a feeling. In just 30 seconds, viewers are reminded of the beauty and values connecting all West Virginians to each other.”

Actually, the most difficult part of the project was the "hook" — the final close-up on the guitar case. A custom stencil of the West Virginia Lottery logo was created in Adobe Illustrator, printed on vinyl, then carefully transferred to the case. There was no margin for error in production time, so the team held its collective breath as I applied the art by hand. In the end, we presented the case to John Musgrave, an avid musician himself.
