My work focuses on the past, present, and future of the Civil Rights Movement as seen through the lens of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Utilizing Dr. Martin Luther King's well-known "mountaintop" metaphor, I have divided the events leading up to and following the Act into two mountaintops. The names, dates, and events that comprise these mountains are but a small fraction of all of the contributions made in the fight for equal rights — but it is my hope that they are enough to invite the viewer to go back and discover more about the circumstances that pushed the citizens of the United States towards higher, more equal grounds.
