Seven Heavenly Virtues

In this project, I explored ways to communicate the seven heavenly virtues visually. The medium I chose to communicate these timeless principles was photography. My subjects were all architecture and environment based. It was my goal to find places that I really thought connected with the virtues, whether in really obvious ways, or in more subtle metaphorical ways. I placed my photographs in a tabloid layout in InDesign and I had my tabloid professionally printed by the newspaper club. This project taught me more about visual communication, layout design, and the specifics of printing on newsprint.

Chastity, featuring a photo of the Franciscan Sisters of Christ the King in Kansas City.
Temperance, featuring a photo of the Valley Hope Recovery Center in Overland Park.

Patience, featuring a photo of the pond at Loose Park in Kansas City.
Kindness, featuring a photo of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Park in Kansas City.
Humility, featuring a photo of the World War 1 Memorial in downtown Kansas City.
Back page, featuring extra information and credits.
The back cover features that same photo as the front cover, except that it has been edited to be darker and moodier. I wanted the front and back covers to have contrasting looks and feels, while still focusing on the same theme.
