In a materialistic world, products continue to be released and developed. It seems as though there is a gadget for everything, continuing to increase productivity and convenience for society’s consumers. I have chosen to develop and illustrate a product that will be used to translate animal communication through a collar, serving the relationship between pet owners, trainers, and anyone who seeks to know the mind of their animal. This product is called the Relay Collar, named after the electrical device that incorporates a current or signal (translating information) as well as the definition of the word, to receive and pass information on.
The Relay Collar solves the problem between humans and animals. A pet owner cannot understand a bark, chirp, meow, growl, etc. and can only infer what an animal is trying to stay. With this communication collar, pet owners, zoologists, and animal trainers alike can understand what exactly the animal is saying through a screen on their collar or by connecting the collar to an app on their personal device (such as a tablet or smart phone). The consumer can purchase the product based upon the animal. This collar is sold in several sizes for miniature, small, medium, and large animals. The collar can be set/programmed to the specific animal and has the knowledge base to translate each specific language. My target audience is pet owners in the United States ranging from 20 – 40 years old. I believe that this group of individuals will be the ones who consider their pets their family and have the resources to invest in this product. As it relates to pet owners, I anticipate that a majority of collars will be used for dogs, cats, birds, and rodents.
