In conjunction with my more abstract work in “State Street,” I produced a series of monotypes in spring 2011 to deal more concretely with the idea of black. Drawing heavily on the Abstract Expressionism movement, I experimented with the creation of 2D environments using only texture and depth. As a unifying framework is absent from these works, I produced them primarily as decorative art objects.
