The fashion industry is considered the world’s most polluting sector, whereas footwear plays an important role regarding the environmental impact. The manufacturing and disposal of shoes require a huge amount of energy and produce emissions that are harmful to both humans and the ecosystem. Due to these emerging sustainability concerns, a growing development is running in the footwear industry to adopt a circular design approach that encourages the sustainable consumption of shoes. Indeed, the circular economy has become an important game-changing innovation driver in the footwear industry.
