I love Dragons. And I love Dragonflies.
There’s something mystical about the dragonfly, like it belongs to another realm. It reminds me of the forest fairies. Perhaps it morphs into one at night. Maybe it was plucked out of a fairy tale, just to add to the enchantment in our world.
The dragonflores diptych part of the Pink Ginger series is a set of artworks in mixed media. The dragonflies haven't appeared as often as the butterflies in my work, but they are my absolute favorites. Dragonfly talk always takes me back to this gorgeous dragonfly brooch that I once owned, gifted to me by my lovely Badi mummy. And I can't stop kicking myself for not being more careful with it, for having no idea where it disappeared from the crazy pile of gorgeous trinkets. I miss it, miss her more.
These paintings also are works that have evolved with time, the base painting is in oil paint possibly my only works in oil paint because I realized right after that I was allergic to turpentine. It has since gathered a layer of acrylic paint and some calming zentangling. Again a mix of impasto and zentangles, making them a set of two that are a composite of many favorites.
The artwork along with Dragonflores - Daisies is available as a diptych.
