PABELLÓN ALEMÁN, MIES VAN DER ROHE

University project to create images from scratch of the German Pavilion of Mies Van der Rohe.

We were given the opportunity to create images from scratch of one of the most emblematic modern buildings in Barcelona, the German Pavilion, located in Montjuic. This is a symbolic work of the Modern Movement, it has been studied and interpreted exhaustively and has inspired the work of several generations of architects.

The most symbolic part of this building are the materials, the originality of Mies van der Rohe in the use of materials does not lie in the novelty of them but in the ideal of modernity that they expressed through the rigor of its geometry, the precision of its pieces and the clarity of its assembly.

The German Pavilion, also known as the Barcelona Pavilion, was designed by the famous German architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe for the 1929 Barcelona International Exposition. This pavilion was considered one of the most important and representative buildings of the modern movement in architecture.

The Pavilion's design is characterized by its simplicity and elegance. It is built with materials such as steel, glass and stone, which give it a minimalist and modern appearance. The pavilion consists of a large central space covered by a flat roof supported by four steel and glass columns. Inside, there are a series of open spaces connected by sliding glass doors.
It was dismantled after the 1929 Barcelona International Exposition, but was rebuilt on the same site in 1986. Today, the building is a historical and cultural monument, and is used as a space for exhibitions and cultural events.
