3D Automotive Gauge Design

Aerospace design played into how I viewed elements of this gauge and built out behavior, which inspired animation for this gauge. To simulate “stroke width”, I created a series of cylinders that taper in and overlap on each other.  The height of these cylinders help control the amount of emissive light that is cast, but also the amount and depth of shadow.  Increasing the amount of taper of each piece, reveals more light which mimics increasing or decreasing stroke thickness.
