The owners asked me if I could take an iconic shot from The Shining and turn it into a beer label. These are always my favorite types of projects, just cutting loose in Adobe Fresco and sketching my evenings away. 

There were a few things that I felt were important to the feeling of the scene. The first is the mouth, its rather deranged and a bit of a challenge to get a cow's mouth to look human without it looking too strange. 

The second was the eye. In the movie the eyes are red, so I did some work to bring that out without it being too obvious. 

Originally there was just trees in the background. My wife suggested the Ax. Since it was halloween I added the pumpkin an then carved Dying Breed into it to look like a face. I like to add subtle little easter eggs whenever possible.
