LED Lighting Catalog

LED lighting catalog
The product catalog was prepared for an industrial lighting exhibition.
Diolite has a short guide with logo, fonts and colors that was given to me for the assignment.

The main objective of the project, defined by the client, is to develop a modern and stylish catalog that aligns with the company's brand and current design trends. The catalog should provide readability and flexibility for updating information and adding new products.

Diolite is a new product brand of LED lighting. Production is localized at the facilities of the Technopolis GS innovation cluster.

In catalog design, I've utilized the brand font PF Beau Sans for visual consistency. To streamline the process, I've created style libraries that encompass font and column styles, defining the titles, subtitles, paragraphs, and columns to ensure a cohesive layout throughout the catalog.

Additionally, to enhance readability and visual harmony, I've incorporated a baseline grid with a height of 3 mm. This grid served as the foundation for aligning all text elements, ensuring a clean and uniform presentation of content across the catalog.
Layout
I have created a master layout in Adobe InDesign, which is a crucial step in document preparation. This process ensures design uniformity and simplifies the layout phase. A master layout allows for the establishment of a consistent style and format throughout the entire document, ultimately enhancing efficiency and the overall visual appeal of the project.

I used a 6-column grid for catalog layout, providing structure, consistency, and efficient use of space. It helps establish content hierarchy, offers flexibility, aligns elements, and simplifies updates, resulting in a visually appealing and well-organized catalog.

Below you can see the 4 finals layouts for page spreads which I use in the catalog.
Product renders
To create the catalog, I was provided with 3D models, which I further enhanced and configured using the Blender software. I worked on adjusting textures, lighting, colors, and object rendering settings. It's worth noting that 3D models have advantages over real photographs, as they allow for a more expressive and appealing representation of products, ensuring higher-quality visual presentation.
One of the most notable difficulties I encountered was configuring the glass texture and its transparency settings. Achieving the desired level of realism and transparency for glass objects required meticulous adjustments and experimentation. However, through persistence , I was able to overcome these challenges and achieve the stunning visual effects we aimed for in the catalog.
Illustrations
For the catalog, we needed additional simple illustrations to demonstrate the various types of light fixture mounts. To effectively convey this information, I chose to create isometric illustrations. This approach allowed for a clear and visually engaging representation of the different mounting options, enhancing the overall comprehensibility of the catalog's content.
Final result
The result of our work on the catalog is a professionally executed product that fully meets the client's needs. It's important to note that the client received a preconfigured layout in InDesign format. This means that adding new products or making data adjustments in the future will be incredibly easy and will not affect the overall design of the catalog. This simplifies the process of updating and maintaining the catalog's relevance, which is a key aspect of effective marketing and customer communication.
