Drawing Ability:
In my Art 121 class I created an 18'' x 24'' graphite drawing emphasizing calligraphic line, varying line pressures, within a well-designed, cropped image. My main five objects in this piece is the skeleton, the two bunnies, the pumpkin, and the bottle. I drew with an ebony pencil to grab those dark edges and make my work stand out. I started this piece off by using the continuous line method. I would draw an object lightly and I would not pick up my tool for a single session. This helped place my composition together. I then would go in and add detail, shadows, and highlights like in the bottle and in the ribs of the skeleton to create a believable and compelling drawing. I was challenged to create the largest range of value and edge of my lines. Overall, I believe this piece best demonstrates my ability to create a realistic piece.
