Finished master's interpretation, 1824", colored pencil and marker. Completed 3/12/23 for ART 106 Figure Drawing class. I inserted my own face into a famous self portrait. This one is inspired by "The Man in the Red Turban" by Jan Van Eyck (1433). I chose to imitate this because I wanted to explore the textures and folds in the turban and practice rendering dramatic light.

I continued to build up layers of colored pencil.

I started by laying down a layer of red marker for the turban, and then went in to add light and shadow with colored pencil. I then began to layer the face with colored pencil.
