ACURA NSX RS FUTURE TIME ATTACK CAR RENDERING
It's been a long time i didn't render any cars, lot of works lately but i managed to squeeze some time to participate the latest CGI automotive rendering challenge. The Subject was the Acura NSX 92 modeled by Clément Feuillet
i wanted to do something a bit extreme this time.As i always loved time attack cars with their crazy aero, i chose to replicate the US based RS futures NSX.
After some modifications of the 3D model to match the aero, i began to do work on the legendary midnight purple paint.
My goal at the very start was to do an action shot of the car going full throttle so low to the ground it would create sparks everywhere, the environnement would be a fictonnal circuit at night.
After the shading phase, i started building the environnement, here is some render showing the building progress :
the iterative work lead to this image. at first i was pretty stocked, but there was something off i couldn't find and I stopped working for a few days on it.
after reviewing the render, i wasn't happy with it as it lacked the initial impact of the concept i envisionned so i restarted from scratch the simulation of the sparks dynamics
got to something very cool like this one , however ...
when integrated in the master scene, the feeling was still off, i couldn't managed to output a nice render with my longing for a dynamic image with motion blur, a nice view on the car, and the sparks at the same time. Redshift lack of photographic settings on the camera couldn't help me to ground the motion blur as i wanted, so i decided to go for a static shot.
sparks would be another subject destined to be animated ( when i'll find the time :'( )
without sparks and motion blur, i had to improve a lot the work on the environnement as it was really poor at first
after nearly 3 weeks of creative work, the flow guided me to this very end, i submitted this render as i was happy with it and managed to get a second place.
new lesson learnt: a lot a endless nights to try making work something that didn't, something you gotta live with it and move on for the better, trust the process, trust yourself.
