Make – Do and Mend

During World War 2, England began distributing costumes (each person would be given a certain number of votes each year in exchange for a purchase of costumes). However, the number of votes handed out was decreasing because of the scarce supply (focusing on war spending). As a result, British women launched the Make – Do and Mend "do-it-yourself, repair and make-wear" campaign. Costumes knitted from wool were quite popular at that time.
