Summary:
Some may see life as the experience of consciousness and self-awareness, and some may see it as a journey of personal growth and fulfillment. Ultimately, the definition of life is subjective and can vary depending on an individual's beliefs, experiences, and cultural background. I resonate with the latter definition; I choose to fill my life with projects and goals. This means that I am constantly ripping and running to accomplish everything I can before it is my time to finish off my journey on Earth. In my personal experience, there have been many ups and downs but lately, there have been ways more ups than downs and I am grateful for this. For this reason, I have decided to share my journey through social media, YouTube, and Behance because I have noticed that there are things, I am accomplishing that people find interest in. I would like to create a personal connection with my audience to build a sense of community through my content as one of my main goals for my platform. Generating content for my social media channels by documenting daily activities and experiences, will create a constant stream of content for my audience to engage with. My content will include lifestyle and beauty topics being that I have my cosmetology license and a passion for hair and makeup. I will also showcase what it is like to work as a marketing coordinator for a French importer and an emerging non-profit in Houston Tx while studying to get a master’s degree. Also, I will present content on being a dog mom to my two babies, and everything in between. I feel like this current journey I am on needs to be documented and people might find value in the things that I am going through/ accomplishing on a day-to-day basis.
Story Telling Piece
“I am an anomaly in my space....the way I exist is unique”-Nipsey Hussle. This quote from the late great Nipsey Hussle sums up how I feel about my existence in a few short words. As a black woman with a bachelor’s degree, working in my field of study as my first job out of grad school is a unique position. I am truly blessed to be able to be successful enough to comfortably live in one of the largest cities in the Us and also be able to still enjoy my passions. My brand encompasses everything that I may do in my day-to-day life, as first I was hesitant to share these things because I did not personally think anyone would be interested in them. It took a lot of my peers to tell me that certain aspects of my life are interesting and unique to someone who is my age.
My brand will include all things lifestyle and beauty, I consider myself a fashionable person and I love to do hair and makeup. During high school, I was able to get my cosmetology license and I have been wearing and perfecting my hair and makeup looks since I was in the 10th grade. I find joy in posting tips and tricks to help others recreate the looks that I can put together. Fast forward to college, I found my passion for mass communications and this is the field of work I have chosen to focus on in my adult life. I currently work as a marketing coordinator for a French importer which I honestly could not envision myself being here two years ago. I can honestly say that I love my job and the people I work with are great, this is why I am choosing to share my work environment, it is truly rare to find a company like the one I work for and I feel that it will be refreshing for others to see.
On a more personal being a dog mom is a large part of my life, this is why I will feature my fur babies on my platform. I have a six-year-old Chihuahua named Elijah whom I adopted from a rescue during my sophomore year of undergrad who comes along with me just about everywhere I go. Usually, chihuahuas are loud and high strung but Elijah is different, he is the sweetest, quietest boy a girl could ask for. I have also just added a new addition to our pack a nine-week-old French Bulldog named Jayla. She is a total spitfire that finds a way to crack me up every day. Jayla is a very sweet puppy and has never met a stranger she is a great addition to our little family. Compared to most dogs they live a very lavish lifestyle and I think people would be interested to see this. Another interesting aspect of my life that I will be documenting will be undertaking a full remodel of a home built in 1950 that has been in my family for years. This will be my very first home and it will be a learning experience that will be interesting for my audience to watch the progress from demo to picking out the finishing touches. I am very excited about this project, and I feel like people will be able to watch and learn from the ups and downs of my journey.
My brand encompasses all the moving parts that make up my life, once I establish myself as a brand I will have more opportunities to expand this brand. Maybe in the future, I will create my makeup line. I also see potential in doing other home remodels in the future. I want to do so many things and I know that building a brand around the lifestyle I live will be beneficial to my journey as well as be an entertaining and sometimes helpful guide to others.
