Storytelling and Narratives

A collection of writing written for my Storytelling and Narratives class
Our brief was to convey stories in a creative and interactive manner - while most in my class opted for performances, I wanted to do something that would revitalise writing itself, something engaging and interactive within the realm of written literature. And so I came up with these re-arrangeable stories, which I took to class as literal puzzle pieces.
The brief for this assignment was to build a story around a particular craft. I chose the Bidri craft of Maharashtra, and built a story of adventure.
What it says on the tin
The story of Chitrangada wasn't one I knew before I started working on this project, but her character - that struggle between wanting external acceptance and validation versus realising your own worth and thriving on self validation is something I think almost everybody can relate to today. I wanted to explore what such a story could be like if written from a more obviously feminist perspective, and the intentional medley of ancient Indian settings and modern writing explores how even though time passes and civilisations fall - people remain the same.
