Falconry: Editorial Illustration

Master Falconry: Editorial Illustration
I was tasked with creating an editorial illustration of an NPR news article in my Vector Illustration class. My goal was to enhance the article and make it more exciting to read. I aimed to create a connection between both pages of the article by incorporating part of the illustration in the midst of my text. After some sketching and planning, I decided the layout of my illustration, and what colors would work best.
I sketched various compositions of the falcon. I decided on having the bird in flight would work best for my illustration.
For my color palette, I decided to incorporate mostly camouflage colors (greens and browns), since these colors are what the actual falconer wears in real life. The green and blue colors worked well for the natural landscape in the background.
Thanks for viewing my work!
